connection
community access provides valuable connection to your interests, the services you need, your local community, and your 'tribe'... people and places that make life healthy, meaningful and fulfilling.
because we know that connection and skill development are the keys to a good life, our services are designed with the aim of creating opportunities where you'll thrive. We know that meaning and value is found when support is based on nurturing empowerment - and YOU!
life long learning
learn an instrument, get your study schedule on the board. Channel your artistic side. Take up a hobby. Learn something new. We know where all the interesting things are - and if you're not sure, our shiny team members have some pretty cool interests and skills themselves
sports & fitness goals
is paintball your passions? Is bowling your blast? Perhaps getting fit is your focus? Would a companion at hydro or gym be helpful? Do you need a challenge? Is there a game in town to catch? Hey! As client, we might even be able to help you with tickets...
habits & health goals
if you're looking to make some changes in your habits - big or small - a wellness retreat might be just what you're looking for. There's also lifestyle coaching and opportunities to discover what your very own 'good life' looks like
learn & practice social skills
make and keep friends, handle conflict, build social skills, navigate rejection and handle humour in a socially appropriate way
work and volunteering
revamp your resume, find a job, give back to your community. It's all in a day's work
shiny things started as a resource for a diverse bunch of disability workers in 2019. As people living with multiple unmet needs lost support services due to commercial decisions made by NGOs, we were asked if we could create something that embraced the complexities of life in ways that honoured choice, control and a good life
we began co-producing alternatives with NDIS Participants, Guardians, Nominees and Mentors. After 12 months of listening and learning... and after many, many conversations... here we are; exploring disability uniquely, experiencing diversity unusually, and enjoying education, resources and adventures together
whether you want to train your support team, go on a mindful adventure, do something totally different, improve your skills, or find out the meaning of life the universe and everything... shiny things is waiting for you!
our creative crew knows how to build unique resources for your best life. Explore the possibilities; you'll find mentors, courses, adventures and opportunities that you won't find anywhere else...
shiny things is a collective of people who either live with a disability ourselves, or care for someone we love who lives with disability.
we're all gifted with personal and professional living experience which means we create handcrafted solutions to people living with complex needs who experience difficulty in finding appropriate support our mentors are a great bunch of human beings who bring both the usual, and the unusual, to your life
at shiny things we invite you to open your heart and imagine...
shiny things resides in the unusual and the unique... in YOU.
if you're navigating your first plan, or need a provider to competently step in when existing services have failed, this is where we excel!
because our specialisation is supporting people living with disabilities associated with particular neurological and mental illness diagnoses, we don't offer services such as personal care or support that requires nursing assistance, the use of hoists or similar care needs
shiny things recognises the Whadjuk Nyoongar and Pibelman peoples as custodians of the country where we at shiny things all live, love, and work. For our traditional custodians everything in the vast landscape has meaning and purpose, and we acknowledge the very special ways in which life is a web of inter-relationships where people and nature are partners, and where koora (past) is always connected to yeyi (present).
shiny things also acknowledges and honours the fundamental value and dignity of all people. We bring diverse traditions, heritages, and experiences with us in being who we are, doing what we do, and caring for the places we live and work.
